Consumer Protection

Supporting greater consumer protection to boost financial inclusion.

Consumer protection policies are a necessary enabler of financial inclusion, ensuring

that consumers are treated fairly and engendering confidence in financial services. Effective consumer protection policies provides consumers with sufficient knowledge and information to make informed decisions whilst enabling a regulatory and legal environment which is conducive to investment and innovation.

The rapid increase in the number of new solutions over recent years brings new risks to both customers and service providers, as traditional codes of best practice do not necessarily apply.

FSDT has worked with policy-makers, financial service providers and consumers to develop comprehensive frameworks for consumer protection to coordinate oversight and to increase financial capacity among consumers to make informed choices that meet their needs.
