The FSDT (Financial Sector Deepening Trust), is a Trust Fund sponsored by five international donors from Canada,
Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK, as well as the Government of Tanzania. Incorporated in Tanzania in June 2004, the aim of the FSDT is to help more people actively engage with a deeper financial system in Tanzania which entails a focus on rural and poorer communities, as well as micro and small enterprises. The FSDT funds a wide variety of initiatives and investments in the financial sector using grants, loans, subordinated debt and other instruments.

The Microfinance Specialist’s role will include:
• Market analysis, strategy and business planning
• Organising and managing technical assistance to financial institutions
• Arranging and funding other areas of microfinance and other financial institutions and financial infrastructure
• Research and knowledge dissemination
• Liaison with international financial institutions and other agencies and programmes to promote greater harmonisation of approach to financial inclusion in Tanzania
Skills and experience required:
• At least five years experience working in financial services, either with a microfinance institution, microfinance investor, banking or consulting firm in the related field– or a combination of these
• At least five years’ experience in emerging markets and must also be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the latest
developments in microfinance, banking, SME finance and technology in developing economies
• Capacity to identify and effectively appraise investment opportunities for financial sector development
• Experience preparing contracts and performance-based agreements
• Experience in effective monitoring and evaluation of projects as well as management of budgets
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and work under pressure to tight reporting deadlines
• A first degree in a relevant subject such as finance, accounting, business, economics
• Strong financial analysis and risk management skills
• First rate written and oral communication skills in both English and Kiswahili
• Highly computer literate (especially MS Office and MS Projects)
• Must be a Tanzanian citizen
The operational base for this position is the FSDT office in Dar es Salaam. Travel within Tanzania and internationally may be required.
